This is a contest for all you bloggers out there...it's a New Year and perhaps you want a new look...for your blog. I am giving away 1 blog makeover; the talented Cathy at My Design Workbench (same gal who did my blog) will be doing it. She's really wonderful and gets things just right. I'm curious...why did you start your blog? Was it to make extra cash? Did you just plan on keeping a diary of sorts? Just have a lot to say?
For me, I have always wanted to write in some capacity. While I hated the "forced" writing assignments in school, I loved journal days where we could write about whatever we wanted (junior high) and the "free" writing periods we were given in high school - about 15 minutes, again, of writing whatever we wanted while we listened to whatever song our fab English teacher had to play that day.
Ever since I was a child, I devoured books, articles, short stories, etc. The only thing I never really got into was poetry; I still don't much care for it but that's probably because I have no talent in writing it. I always felt like I had things to say, too. Everytime I sit down to put pen to paper, though (or fingers to keyboard in this case), my mind goes blank. All the amazing ideas I had that came to me in the middle of the night...that catchy phrase that came to me while I was out shopping...the clever plot I thought of in the shower...it just disappears. So, I thought that maybe writing on a more regular basis will keep the ideas flowing. Whether or not I'll ever write more than this blog; I don't know. But I do know that I'll at least get some enjoyment in getting my ideas out there; however big or small they might be.

I started just started my blog focused on finding giveaways for babies and expecting mothers because my husband and I are planning for a baby and family members with babies and toddlers are having difficulty in this economy. Plus, everyone loves to win contests!

oh this would be fantastic!! I started to blog b/c I WAS a manager in the retail world..NOW I'm mom and have LOTS of extra time on my hands! This keeps me busy and I'm able to tell the world about all the neat products that I come in contact with! Plus, I love doing giveaways!

I resisted the "blog" for a long time and didn't actually start until about October of this year but now am sorry that I waited SO long. It is SO much easier!!!!

I started my blog to gain a little bit of me time in the evenings after everyone went to bed. I never really liked sitting in front of the tv, and I think of it more as journaling. All the great blogs that I read in the evenings made me want my own! In the portfolio, Hip Mamas Place is my favorite! They are all so nice though!!

I started my blog to give me a source to write for, to share with family and friends the happenings in my life via the "view from a knitter and mom". It has since become a little less about knitting and more about life in general, family, friends, blogging, blogging sites, sharing and fun. I kind of tripped into this world of blogs, I had no idea the capacity it had to reach so many, to learn and do so much!
I didn't even realize until just recently that many make money from their blogs! (HOW do you do that!?!) But for the most part, I enjoy writing and sharing my two or three cents worth of things, it makes me smile and it feels good you know!?! It's a touch of me, my words, my world where I am not always "Wife" or "Mom" or "Step-Mom" or "Employee" just me - Christine in all the shades and textures that make me who I am.
Silly I am sure, but that too is okay 'cause I like it! In fact I'm hooked! Which is why it's 305am and I'm online while the rest of the house is asleep.....

All I ever wanted to do was post pictures of the quilts I have made or the other crafts I've done. But now I think I would like to occasionally give something away. That would be fun.
I started my decorating on a budget (darnit!) blog because I got hooked on reading other blogger's decorating blogs and thought it might be fun to give it a go myself!
